Clevedon Civic Society was formed in 1970
to conserve the towns various characteristics.
Very quickly groups were
formed and we now have the Conservation & Planning, Our Environment, Footpaths
& Local History Group.
Membership is a very reasonable £8.00 per annum (£10.00 overseas members),
this includes a newsletter sent 3 times a year, admission to eight public
meetings, held through winter months at St Andrews Church Hall and entrance
to 10 history group meetings each year.
We have tried
to provide something for everyone on this site, if you require info on any of
the Civic Society groups simply click on the link above to take you straight there.
If you are interested in your family history, then we have various census (dating
back to 1841) & Parish records, mainly for St Andrews, available to Clevedon Civic
Society members, available from a link on the Village Pump page.
We have also provided information
on our Footpaths Group, and if you are planning a
visit to Clevedon you can use the links to find out the 5 day weather forecast.
We hope this site will prove useful to those of you researching your family
history or even if you are just interested in finding out about your town and
the people who live there.
The Clevedon
Civic Society wishes to thank the Awards for All Team of the National Lottery
for making available to us a grant for the purchase of IT equipment, enabling
us to improve on the talks and displays that we provide to both Society
members and the community as a whole.
