5 walkers braved a late autumn day with a biting breeze learning all about the stories behind the Blue Plaques of Axbridge - all 42 of them!
Starting with an ex-Barn that contained possibly the oldest structural timbers in the Town, we learned about Mayor Richard Trew, Henrietta Glover (who successfully applied for the position of Town Hall Keeper and found out she was also the Town Crier) and Catherine Wreford Tozer(who spent most of her adult life posing as a man called "Charlie Wilson"), and others.
Having completed the High Street, we lunched at the Lamb Inn before making a quick tour of the Square before visiting the Church and its immediate vicinity.
A most interesting and enjoyable day, to be repeated early next year for the benefit of those that couldn't join on this occasion.
