Clifton Gardens

The footpath group had a day out exploring the Clifton and Hotwells green squares and hidden gardens.

We started at Dowry Square where we enjoyed tea and cake and were entertained by a flautist group. A lovely start to the day, and we could have stayed longer but forced ourselves to our next stop , The Polygon. Residents have worked together to cultivate a communal garden with seating areas as well as wild patches for birds pollinators and mammals. They also had Pimms and strawberries and cream, all too much to resist!

Rolling on we approached Cornwallis Crescent which was a true delight as the terrace backs on to a sizeable garden. The residents meet together to garden and it was full of surprises, beautiful roses and Philadelphia or mock orange.

After a bit of a climb we reached Clifton Village via Maple Leaf Court with its Japanese garden. After all that walking we had to find a cafe with cake before returning to Dowry Square for more music.
